Nucleon-nucleus optical potential in the particle-hole approach

چکیده
Feshbach’s projection formalism in the particle-hole model space leads to a microscopic description of scattering in terms of the many-body self-energy. To investigate the feasibility of this approach, an optical potential for 16O is constructed starting from two previous calculations of the self-energy for this nucleus. The results reproduce the background phase shifts for positive parity waves and the resonances beyond the mean field. The latter can be computed microscopically for energies of astrophysical interest using Green’s function theory.

Reaction cross-section predictions for nucleon induced reactions
A microscopic calculation of the optical potential for nucleon-nucleus scattering has been performed by explicitly coupling the elastic channel to all the particle-hole (p-h) excitation states in the target and to all relevant pickup channels. These p-h states may be regarded as doorway states through which the flux flows to more complicated configurations, and to longlived compound nucleus res...

The prominent feature of the η meson is that it couples dominantly to the N(1535) (S11) resonance at threshold energies. The low-momentum η meson would then mainly excite N–nucleon-hole (N-h) states in nuclear matter. Therefore the η meson nuclear dynamics is sensitive to modifications of nucleon and N properties in medium. If some medium effects and/or a density increase bring the N-h state do...

We study elastic proton-nucleus scattering at intermediate energies. The nucleon-nucleus optical potential is derived from the Bonn nucleon-nucleon potential and the Dirac-Brueckner approach for nuclear matter. Our calculations , which do not contain any adjustable parameters, yield good agreement with experiment.

The properties of symmetric nuclear matter are investigated within the Green’s functions approach. We have implemented an iterative procedure allowing for a self-consistent evaluation of the single-particle and two-particle propagators. The in-medium scattering equation is solved for a realistic (non-separable) nucleon-nucleon interaction including both particle-particle and hole-hole propagati...
متن کاملFull folding calculations for proton-nucleus elastic scattering at intermediate energies.
The full folding optical potential for the elastic scattering of protons from ' 0 and Ca at 200 MeV is calculated. The fully off-shell free nucleon-nucleon t matrix, at a fixed energy, derived from the Paris potential and harmonic oscillator nuclear single-particle wave functions are used for both systems. The calculated observables show that the optimal factorization approximation provides a g...
